FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - May 11, 2023 - PRLog -- U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Station Ft Lauderdale is proud to sponsor multiple events and activities to help promote National Safe Boating Week, May 20-26, the official launch of the 2023 Safe Boating Campaign. This yearlong campaign promotes the value of voluntary, consistent life jacket wear by recreational boaters.

The events include Free Vessel Safety Checks, Safety Equipment Demos and Boating Safety Courses at Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach, Boca Raton and Pompano Beach. Locations and time details are available on the website https://floridasafeboating.org/

"We're committed to teaching boaters that the best boating experience is a safe day on the water," said Marc Brody, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 3 Commander.

U.S. Coast Guard statistics show that drowning was the reported cause of death in four out of every five recreational boating fatalities in 2021, and that 83 percent of those who drowned were not wearing life jackets.

New life jackets are much more comfortable, lightweight, and stylish than the bulky orange style most boaters know. There are innovative options, such as inflatable life jackets, allowing mobility and flexibility for activities like boating, fishing, paddling or hunting, and are much cooler in the warmer weather.
