Mental Wellness is Just a Song Away: celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month

By: Get News
The collaboration includes a special playlist of songs to sing and affirmations to repeat, to encourage stress management and improved mental health.

In honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, BetterMe, a health and wellness platform, and popular singing app Smule have partnered to launch the #EmbraceYourRhythm Challenge. The challenge aims to encourage people to find positive, creative methods to manage their stress, improve their mental health and find their natural rhythm.

Studies show that singing can be an effective way to unwind and relieve stress. More than half of Americans seem to agree, with 52 percent reportedly singing in the shower, or when they’re alone.

As part of the #EmbraceYourRhythm challenge, Smule app users will have access to a curated playlist that includes songs for every mood - allowing participants to identify and sing the song that best reflects their emotions and what they want for themselves that day. To participate in the challenge, users can sing and record a performance using one of the songs from the playlist to count as an entry.

As part of the partnership, a new 10-minute affirmation will appear in BetterMe: Mental Health. The goal is to encourage people to embrace and express the wide range of their emotions - happy, sad, and everything in-between. The affirmation involves repeating the text to help people become more mindful of their emotions. It's calming, while also encouraging, affirming thoughts and feelings into reality. Users can find the new affirmation in the "Plan" tab in BetterMe: Mental Health.

“Mental health is often overlooked, even though it is just as important as physical health. At BetterMe, we aim to break this stigma and provide people with a holistic tool for better well-being through BetterMe: Mental Health. I hope by partnering with Smule, we can encourage people to take care of their mental well-being and feel empowered to seek help when they need it,” said Victoria Repa, CEO and Founder of BetterMe, a Health Coach.

BetterMe and Smule are proud to offer prizes for the challenge, including 1-year of mental health coaching from the BetterMe: Mental Health App for 200 participants. Challenge participants can also share their Smule singing performances on social media with the hashtag #EmbraceYourRhythm for even better chances of winning. The winners will be featured on the Smule blog.

"In today's fast-paced world, finding time for self-care and mental wellness is crucial," said Smule President Bill Bradford. "At Smule, we strongly believe in the power of music to heal, inspire and bring people together. That's why we're thrilled to partner with BetterMe to promote mental health awareness and encourage people to sing and express themselves by participating in #EmbraceYourRhythm."

Everyone can open or join song invites with #EmbraceYourRhythm from May 5 to May 30, 2023.
