Experienced front man, Cordell Winter and guitarist Day-Vawn Miller join the band writing new music and getting ready to tour.
Hendersonville, Tennessee Feb 7, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Iron Gate Records artist SKODA is making some big changes to accelerate the band's profile and development. With the addition of a new frontman, Cordell Winter, and guitarist, Devon "Day-Vawn" Miller, a band name change was in order. The Cordell Winter Band leverages the new frontman's image, performance, and a stronger rock direction for the band. Founding members Matt Skoda and Kai Foster provide a solid rhythm section after playing with their previous band for the last five years.
Cordell Winter is a seasoned frontman with incredible vocals and a performance style that harkens back to the classic bands of the rock era. Playing guitar and singing since middle school, Cordell has fronted several earlier bands as he crafted his musical skills and style. With the incredible range and the ability to bring an audience into the performance, Cordell offers up a compelling show with musical chops and vocals to back it up.
Cordell Winter stated, "I have been fronting several bands as well as having played venues backed by hired musicians. Music and performing are all I have ever wanted to do and getting the opportunity to front this band is remarkable. We will be releasing a lot of new music that we have been working on during the transition and look forward to getting out and performing live as we finalize our setlist. But to say it's already been a blast would be an understatement. My new bandmates and I have the same work ethic and these guys are talented musicians. We all aspire to be the next big thing in the rock scene."
In addition to his music, Cordell is an accomplished poet with a spiritual sensibility that informs the lyrics of his songs. His touring and performance in his previous bands and as a solo entertainer more recently has led Winter from the east coast to the west coast in honing his craft while entertaining thousands of fans. He has opened for bands to include Slaughter and Skid Row as well as having written with Loretta Lynn later in her career.
Matt Skoda commented, "We wanted to take the band in a new direction with harder rock songs and a solid performer and frontman. Cordell reached out to us when we began interviewing and we knew he was the right fit for the band. With his experience, vocal maturity, and songwriting skills, we were excited to have him join. At the same time, Day-Vawn came to us as lead guitarist after extensive music tours in 2022 with a pedigree on the instrument that we are excited to have in the group. Of course, none of this would work without a cool vibe among the guys, and that is when we knew we had something special."
Devon "Day-Vawn" Miller is a long-time guitarist having graduated from Nashville's Belmont University with a degree in guitar and the music business. He was hired out of university to tour and play in a number of venues across the country and came back to Nashville to find a place for himself and his music.
Devon said, "I had been hired for several music tours and reviews but was not part of a band. I played in bands when I was younger and started playing rock then. While in Nashville, I was mostly doing country so when this opportunity came along, I jumped in and felt like I could get back to my roots. The guys we now have are humble and hard workers and we have been writing like crazy. I can't wait to see where things go from here."
The band will begin releasing new music in the first half of February with several singles and an EP already in the works. Iron Gate Records will continue to represent the band as "The Cordell Winter Band" along with the specific promotion of the new music and imaging.
