Newly updated app Wevat is a three-step tool that allows non-EU travellers visiting France to get up to a 13% reduction in the price of goods and services by getting a VAT refund.

The VAT supports the EU administration and budget, and is levied by most retailers in Europe. Prior to the launch of the Wevat app, travellers were required to complete VAT return forms to have the tax refunded. Wevat now makes a previously cumbersome and time-consuming undertaking a quick, three-step digital process.
The app has no store restrictions, and monies can be refunded in a choice of 50 currencies by credit card, bank transfer, Alipay, or WeChat pay. Compared to in-store VAT refund providers, Wevat offers 23% higher refunds with a single transparent fee and no foreign exchange fees. As long as travellers spend a minimum of €100 on their purchases across the whole trip in France, they are entitled to the 13% Wevat refund.
To file their claim using Wevat, travellers first download the app before purchase, then ask for a ‘facture’ (invoice in French) addressed to Wevat and upload it to the app, then generate a digital form that can be scanned and validated at Wevat-supported departure points in France. Users can select their preferred refund method and can track their refund process with the app’s tracker feature.
