S4l Houston Veterans’ Resiliency Retreat Bringing Wellness and Resiliency Awards Gala to Downtown H-Town for Columbus Weekend

Houston, Texas - Over 100 veterans are expected to gather in Houston, Texas from October 6th - October 9th, 2022, for the first annual Soldiers 4 Life (S4L) Houston Veterans Resiliency Retreat Columbus Day Weekend 2022 honoring veterans and military personnel.

Organizers behind the event are promising a weekend filled with entertainment for Veterans while addressing mental health issues by offering free services including self-care strategies to military service members, veterans, and their families. Through establishing strategic partnerships with United Way Houston, Buffalo Soldiers Association of West Point Operation Impact, Love and Hope for Our Heroes Inc., Combined Arms Houston, YIT Foundation, The National Buffalo Soldiers Museum, Dress For Success Houston, Harris County, Houston VA Hospital, and the City of Houston’s Mayors Office, the Resiliency Taskforce will be highlighting the important topics of wellness, resiliency, suicide awareness, and prevention for veterans during the Columbus Day weekend holiday.

Decorated veteran Command Sergeant Major, US Army Retired, Saeed Mustafa and founder of S4L Entertainment & Sports Management LLC said the weekend is aimed at bringing awareness to issues that put transitioning service members at risk and behaviors impacting the veteran community in an adverse way. The goal is to provide unique solutions and strategies for a successful post military life which will be demonstrated by a Saturday (October 8, 2022) Night All White Affair & Veterans Resiliency Awards Gala in Le Meriden Downtown Houston 6:00pm to 11:00pm.

CSM Mustafa noted, “We want to bring our veterans together for this very important weekend, our aim is to bring awareness to the serious issues affecting our veteran community, many of them struggling to cope with transition after leaving the military.

CSM Mustafa who authored the book, ‘Resilient Transition, Combating the Feelings of Stress and Anxiety’, a book written for veterans, first responders, and emergency personnel coping with anxiety and stress, said of the weekend event, “We will bring critical resources to the growing veteran community of Houston, Texas. Our hope is that these men and women know they are not forgotten and that there are resources here to help them make the transition.”

The S4L Houston Veterans Resiliency Retreat Columbus Day Weekend 2022 will assist transitioning service members, veterans, and their families, by connecting them to critical information and needed resources to successfully reinter into civilian society. S4L will collaborate with strategic partners, sponsors, and community leaders to execute a pilot program called the S4L Houston Veterans Resiliency Retreat.

The retreat begins on Friday, October 6th 2022, with a meet and greet at SPACES Downtown, Houston. This informal gathering will allow members of the press, local community, and attendees to meet prior to the formal start of the more structured events on Friday morning at the United Way Community Resource Center.

Events continue Saturday morning October 7th 2022, with the S4L Houston Veterans Resiliency Walk which will begin from Le Meridien Downtown Houston for a two mile walk to Discovery Green. Simultaneously, the S4L Houston Veterans Resilience Motorcycle Ride will leave from the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum and end at Discovery Green Park where the Bikers and Walkers will join for a Resiliency Rally.

The night continues with The All-White Affair & Resiliency Awards Gala- the signature event which S4L Entertainment & Sports Management LLC uses to honor Veterans and promote Resiliency. The all-white affair is a New York based event hosted annually on Juneteenth weekend and was held this year at the Historic Thayer Hotel at the United States Military Academy, West Point NY.  The Texas All-White Affair and Resiliency Awards Gala will be held annually on Columbus Day weekend going forward.
