Hav a Sole is excited to announce that its founder, Rikki Mendias, is hosting a holiday sneaker giveaway for the Boys and Girls Club of Indianapolis. Hav A Sole is hosting this giveaway in collaboration with the Indiana Pacers and Finish Line to impact even more lives
Rikki’s story is unique because he understands the impact that can be made by a small gesture. When he was young, Rikki lived in a homeless shelter with his mother. When she couldn’t afford to buy him a pair of much-needed shoes, a past resident saw the holes in Rikki’s shoes and offered to buy him two new pairs.
This gesture sparked a passion as he gradually built up a collection of over 150 pairs of sneakers. However, by his early thirties, Rikki felt lost and depressed. He thought back to the woman who had originally given him those new shoes, and in a pivotal moment, he decided to load up his car and donate his collection of sneakers to the underserved.
That was over seven years ago. Since then, Hav a Sole has given away over 33,000 pairs of quality shoes to those in need. This story is a reminder of how one act of kindness can cause a ripple effect — shaping a life that will then go on to help many others.
Rikki Mendias is the founder and executive director of Hav A Sole, a nonprofit organization that provides quality tennis shoes to the underserved community while also providing mentorship to at-risk youth. Rikki has been featured on Vice, Nation Swell, Good Day LA, and even on the Ellen Show.
Rikki will be in Indianapolis from 12/8/21 through 12/12/21.
