Common Sense Society Wins Gold in 2021 Shorty Impact Awards

Global nonprofit wins prestigious award for 9/11 #WhereWereYou Social Engagement Campaign

WASHINGTON - November 15, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

The Common Sense Society (CSS), a leading international educational network, announced today that the nonprofit is a gold recipient of the 2021 Shorty Impact Awards. CSS, in partnership with Iron Light Labs, won a Shorty Award in the Social Engagement category for the organization's #WhereWereYou September 11th social media campaign.

The Shorty Impact Awards is an international awards program created to raise global awareness around the positive impact that brands, agencies, and nonprofits can have on society through social media. Throughout the duration of the campaign, CSS inspired 9/11 survivors, their families, and others to share their stories with the goal of reminding us all that history matters. Other winners in the Social Engagement category include CNN, Paramount+, and the American Red Cross, to name a few.

"We are honored to win gold in this year's Shorty Impact Awards," said Elizabeth Stiff, Chief Communications Officer of Common Sense Society. "History matters, but the sad truth is that the significance of September 11th is fading from our national memory with each generation, especially among global youth who have no reference point or personal connection to how much our world changed on that day. Through our #WhereWereYou campaign, CSS brought together thousands of Americans' stories, and thousands of teachers used our 9/11 lesson plan so students never forget."
