A partnership formed between thermal energy storage developer E2S Power and global engineering giant SNC-Lavalin aims to convert American fossil-fuel power stations into clean energy hubs.
The companies plan to address the growing energy storage market by approaching utilities and power generators with thermal energy solutions at facilities that are being phased out.
“North America has more than 200 GW of coal-fueled capacity that may be decommissioned in the coming years in the transition to carbon neutrality," E2S Power CEO Sasha Savic said. "E2S Power offers a solution to ensure security of supply while preserving important assets and power plant jobs.
