By: Get News
The Santa Fe clinic offers a manually applied system of movements that help bring movement and tension release of tense and rigid muscles, ligaments, and bony articulations.

Naprapathic Medicine of New Mexico and Dr. Patrick Nuzzo are pleased to announce that the Santa Fe pain management clinic. Naprapathy is a system of active and passive movements designed to bring mobility to the human body’s ligaments, muscles, and joints. Releasing tension in these areas, which are normally flexible, movable, and resilient, is often a key factor for pain relief. The system of therapeutic measures is effective for back, neck and other joint pain and stiffness.

Dr. Nuzzo provides a hands-on approach to the relief of pain. The doctor gently manipulates the vertebrae in the spinal column to stretch the connective tissue which has become contracted. The contraction can irritate the nerves where they leave the spinal column. The treatment consists of manipulative techniques attributed to Naprapathy. The protocol also includes nutritional counseling and adjunctive treatments.

In addition to the clinic services and treatments, Dr. Nuzzo is associated with the Southwest University of Naprapathic Medicine at the same location as NMNM. SUNM is training future Naprapaths to carry on the century-old tradition of Naprapathic Manual Medicine. It is the purpose of the center to provide high-quality health care, with the core values of professional competence, attention to patient dignity and sensitivity, and the highest standards of integrity.

Dr. Oakley Smith is credited as the founder of Naprapathy. The term is combined from the Czech word for “to correct” and the Greek term for “suffering,” thus “to correct pain and suffering.” Dr. Smith based his methods on D.D. Palmer’s chiropractic techniques. Smith’s techniques of vertebral subluxations focus on healing and repairing connective tissue which has become damaged due to injuries or over-use. The system of naprapathy was formalized in 1907. Today, Chicago, IL, is the home of the largest university devoted to naprapathy, the National College of Naprapathic Medicine.
