Delta CleanTech Announces Company Expansion Following Canadian Carbon Tax Increases

Calgary, Alberta - TheNewswire — March 29, 2021 — Delta CleanTech Inc. (“Delta” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that following recent increases in the Canadian carbon tax, Delta is expanding its Calgary headquarters, and positioning regional sales managers in five global locations to meet growing demand for CO2 capture and solvent, ethanol, and glycol reclamation.

The tax was introduced in 2019 at a price of $20 per tonne, and will increase $10 per tonne each year, and by 2022 it will reach $50 per tonne. The goal, in part, is for Canada to meet its obligation to the Paris Agreement. In December 2020, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a gradual hike in the federal carbon tax that will reach $170 per tonne by 2030.

“As a result of increasing carbon taxes, growing interest in environmental and social governance (ESG) initiatives, and funds being made available from the Federal and Provincial Governments for emissions reduction projects; Delta has been inundated with new business opportunities and proposals,” said Jeff Allison, President of Delta CleanTech. “And this new growth is not only confined to Canada, as we are also seeing proposals coming in from Europe, the UAE, China, and Australia.”

Delta’s capture technology has emerged over the past 15 years as a robust, cost-effective, reliable, and predictable solution. The resulting CO2 can be used for enhanced oil recovery, and food grade CO2, and there are new technologies available and under development for the utilization of CO2 for fabrication of carbon nanotubes, graphene, ethanol, and CO2-infused building materials.

“Canada is taking a leadership role in sponsoring facilities such as at the COSIA XPRIZE competition whereby these technologies can be tested and perfected in a real industrial setting,” added Allison. “Canada’s leadership role in emissions reduction has created a new ‘made in Canada’ ESG opportunity, with new jobs being added daily. Delta is looking to be a Canadian leader in this new and exciting business.”
