Goodwill Houston's 2018 Moreton Awards Celebrate Professional Successes and Personal Victories

By: PRLog
HOUSTON - Aug. 23, 2018 - PRLog -- Nominated by their colleagues, and chosen by an internal committee, Goodwill Houston's highest achieving, most exceptional team members and program participants come forward each year to accept accolades at the Moreton Achievement Awards Luncheon. This year's group of honorees all achieved great success on the job; most did so while overcoming obstacles that could have easily prevented them from performing at a high level.

"What we do each year, with generous support from our sponsors and partners, is reward people's professional successes and personal victories. They are all amazing and we are so glad they are part of our Goodwill family," said Steve Lufburrow, President & CEO of Goodwill Houston.

Choosing the Moreton Achievement Award winners is always a difficult task for the committee because there are so many worthy nominees who have dealt with a wide range of circumstances. This year was no different. Some nominees had little to no education when they came to Goodwill, and now they are attending college. Some are persons with disabilities that refuse to allow the disability to define them; others had a difficult time finding employment because they had previously been incarcerated and are now a productive and vital part of the workforce.

Held at the Union Station Lobby at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday, August 21, Goodwill Houston's Moreton Achievement Awards celebration attracted a crowd of 250 who witnessed first-hand Goodwill Houston's mission—Changing Lives Through the Power of Work. Award winners all received a personalized plaque, a cash honorarium, and a much-deserved moment in the spotlight.

A list of names and additional information about this year's Moreton Achievement Award winners can be found on Goodwill Houston's website: moreton_2018_awardwinnerbios
