Exchange Students to Support Underprivileged DC Families During J Day Packing Party + Collection Drive

By: PRLog
WASHINGTON - July 26, 2018 - PRLog -- On Saturday, August 4, 2018, Cultural Vistas will host a day of service and picnic as part of J Day, a nationwide celebration of international education and the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program.

Cultural Vistas' community of international interns, American alumni of international programs, staff, and supporters across the Washington, D.C. area will come together for a packing party to support the Greater DC Diaper Bank.

The group will be tasked with assembling donation kits, which include toothbrushes, toothpaste, baby shampoo, and more essentials, that will be provided to underprivileged families in the metro DC area.

The goal is to assemble more than 700 kits in 2 hours.

The J Day event will begin at 1250 H Street NW, on August 4 at 11:00 am and last until approximately 1 pm. The suggested admission fee to the event is a donation of one of the following items, all of which will also be donated to the Greater DC Diaper Bank.
  • Baby wipes
  • Diapers (especially sizes 3 and up)
  • Diaper rash creams
  • New pacifiers
  • Unopened baby food
  • Toddler snacks

The packing party will be followed immediately by a picnic-style lunch and games.

Now in its fifth year, J Day brings together participants in international exchange programs, their sponsors, and hosts for a day of sharing cultural diversity and customs and giving back to their local community.

From collecting food donations and school supplies for families in need, to taking part in beach clean ups and volunteering at local food banks, exchange participants make an invaluable impact in their American host communities.

In 2017, 54 J Day events were held across 21 states and the District.
