SAINT PAUL, Minn. - May 31, 2018 - PRLog -- Ujamaa Place is inviting the community to join in its mid-year celebration on Thursday, June 14, to learn more about its mission to help men stabilize their lives. The day begins with an off-site information fair, where men aged 18-30 and their families can meet the staff to learn about the 37 services available to them when they enroll into the Ujamaa Place Theory of Transformation program.

The Ujamaa Place "Community Information Fair" will become a regular event throughout the Twin Cities starting with the kick off at Hallie Q. Brown Recreation Center on June 14th, located at 270 N. Kent St., St. Paul, MN. 55102.

Location:Hallie Q. BrownCajun LifeRondo Library
Time:11:00am - 3:00pm1:00pm - 4:00pm3:00pm - 6:00pm

Ujamaa Place serves primarily African American men, aged 18-30, who face systemic barriers that place roadblocks in the way of gaining livable wage employment and stable housing.  "We often hear from Ujamaa men that the hardest step is the first step through the door to ask for help," said COO Lee Buckley.  Mrs. Buckley explained: "one of the ways the community can help is to offer to drive a young man to and from the information fair at Hallie Q. Brown on June 14th, as transportation is a critical need for this marginalized population that most often is written-off by society.  Ujamaa Place is a brotherhood that supports and loves one another."

Ujamaa Place is excited for the community to meet its new Chief Operating Officer, Lee Buckley from 4pm – 5:30pm with light refreshments served, immediately followed by an awards presentation to "celebrate every step forward" for Ujamaa Place Men.
