NEW YORK - April 19, 2016 - PRLog -- In the fourth theatrical release from the Agustin Presenta series, Forbidden Flights (filmed in Cuba and Paris) depicts two strangers who meet up when their flights from Paris to Cuba unexpectedly cancel. It is a spirited story of two lovers' intimate and reflective visions of Cuba while traveling between storms of truths, frustrations, doubts and hopes. Forbidden Flights will make its North American debut in New York on April 25, 2016 at the Walter Reade Theater Lincoln Center, 165 West 65th Street (North Side Upper Level), with the red carpet "Black Tie Affair" promptly starting at 6:30PM and the show time at 8:30PM.

Executive Produced by Omar de la Cruz and directed by critically acclaimed Cuban filmmaker, Rigoberto Lopez, Forbidden Flights makes the film debut of popular Cuban singer Paulo Fernandez Gallo in the leading role along with Moroccan-born French actress Sanaa Alaoui. The story which mostly takes place in Paris focuses on Cuba showing the contrasts of a country spanning from the modernity of Vedado and Miramar, to the "other Havana." Lopez states, "I want to have an honest dialogue with our reality because it is not a matter of sugarcoating reality but rather to be honest with reality and our problems."

Oscar and Emmy-winning producer, Agustin, CEO of Duende Films, who has worked on projects such as the highly praised and popular mini-series "Gabriel: Amor Immortal", Academy Award winning documentary "The Lady in Number 6" and sketch comedy show "Agustin's El Vacilon", brings his extensive knowledge to the production and spoke informally about the project which is set in Paris and partially filmed in Havana.

"With President Obama recently taking action in charting a new course in U.S. relations with Cuba, as a Cuban filmmaker myself, I am not political but I do want to see the people of Cuba opened to the world and the world exposed to its wonderful people … my people. It's all about the people for me. This is why I got involved with this film." He goes on to say, "If the political backlash comes, I will face it but it is not about that for me. I just want my people to have the same freedom of expression artists everywhere have and the same outlet for their voices; this is why I am bringing this film to U.S. theaters."

Forbidden Flights was produced in Cuba in collaboration between the Dominican Republic and Cuba under an agreement with Agustin's Duende Films and former President of DR, Leonel Fernandez and his foundation, FUNGLODE. It is a co-production of the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematographic Industry in partnership with the Ministry of Culture Cuba.
