HORMEL FOODS RETIREMENTS AND ADVANCEMENTS ANNOUNCED

Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE:HRL) today announced the retirements of Joseph D. Clougherty, president of Clougherty Packing, LLC., and Anthony P. Clougherty, executive vice president, administrative services for Clougherty Packinga wholly owned subsidiary of the Austin, Minn.-based multinational consumer foods company. Succeeding Joe as president is Greg N. Longstreet, who previously served as vice president of foodservice sales for Clougherty Packings Farmer John brand.

Joe and Anthony are the sons of founder Francis Clougherty and have held integral leadership positions in the business since 1984.

Clougherty Packing produces pork products, including fresh-cut pork, prepared bacon, sausages, and boneless and bone-in cooked ham under the Farmer John brand. Hormel Foods acquired Clougherty Packing in December 2004.

Joe and Anthonys leadership and experience have been vital to the successful integration of Clougherty Packing into the Hormel Foods family, said Gary Ray, executive vice president, Hormel Foods. Their contributions to the industry have been widely recognized. We wish Joe, Anthony and their families the best in retirement.

Longstreet started at Hormel Foods in 1992 as a grocery products sales representative in Columbia, Md. He was promoted to grocery products territory manager in the Pacific division in 1993 and, in 1994, grocery products territory manager in Los Angeles. In 1996, he became an associate product manager for grocery products at the Hormel Foods corporate office in Austin, Minn. In 1997, he was promoted to product manager for grocery products. In 2006, he was named vice president of foodservice sales for Clougherty Packing.

With the retirement of Anthony, Ernie J. Arauza, vice president of human resources for Clougherty Packing, will report directly to Longstreet.

Barry J. Lynch has also been named senior vice president of sales and marketing for Farmer John, succeeding Larry Swafford. Lynch will relocate from his current position of vice president of sales in the retail division at Jennie-O Turkey Store.

Lynch started with Jennie-O Foods in 1990 as the southeast regional sales manager in the retail division. He became director of sales for the east retail division in 1994. In 2000, Lynch became the customer development manager for national accounts in the retail division. He became customer development manager for the chain channel in the retail division in 2001 for Jennie-O Turkey Store. In 2002, he was named vice president of sales in the retail division for Jennie-O Turkey Store.

Charles J. Meath has been promoted from vice president of branded whole turkey sales to vice president of sales in the retail division at Jennie-O Turkey Store.

Meath started with Jennie-O Foods in 1990 as an assistant commodity manager. In 1991, he was promoted to sales manager in the commodity division and, in 1994, was named director of commodity sales. In 1999, Meath was promoted to vice president of industrial and international commodity sales. He was named vice president of commodity and international sales for Jennie-O Turkey Store in 2001 and, in 2002, he was named vice president of branded whole turkey sales.

Jeffrey R. Frank has been promoted from director of retail marketing for Farmer John to vice president of retail marketing and processing for Farmer John and Saags. Frank will receive additional responsibilities for Farmer John in addition to the marketing efforts of Saags.

Frank joined Hormel Foods in the summer of 1998 as a meat products sales representative in the San Francisco, Calif., sales office. He was promoted to meat products territory manager later that year. In 1999, he was promoted to assistant product manager in the meat products division at the companys corporate office in Austin, Minn. He became associate product manager in 2000 and product manager in 2001. In 2003, Frank was named senior product manager and, in 2005, he moved to Clougherty Packing in Los Angeles as director of retail marketing.

All advancements are effective August 2007.
