Paradise Datacom Unveils New Generation of Satcom Converters Designed for Ultra-Fine Frequency Resolution and High RF Performance

Paradise Datacom, a Teledyne Technologies company (NYSE: TDY), has brought to market a new generation of satcom converters that are fully synthesized, modular, and embedded with the latest RF MMIC and digital PLO technologies to deliver ultra-fine frequency resolution.

“This new line of indoor converters are frequency agile, and carefully engineered to be the flexible, compact and powerful converters our customers are looking for,” said Tony Radford, VP of Sales and Marketing. “They are another example of the innovative satcom technology that Paradise continues to develop.”

An overview of the new converters along with detailed specifications can be viewed in Paradise's “New Generation” web video.

The IBC Series converters are IF to L-Band dual converters designed to be the frequency interface of choice for transitioning a 70MHz base-band modem output to an L-Band frequency for a block converter. Supporting all satellite frequency bands, the IBC is a self-contained, 1RU chassis that is configurable as a single-thread system or as a 1:1 redundant system. Configurable as Dual Up, Dual Down or as Up/Down converters, the IBC has two hot-swappable modules which can be removed without interrupting chassis power.

The RBC series of indoor dual converters is considered the “Workhorse” line, configurable with C-, X- and Ku-band RF modules. It too allows RF modules to be removed without interrupting power, and since it has one common chassis that supports all bands, it can be fitted with any combination of RF modules.

The RBC has on-board software that automatically determines frequency and the type of module, and includes 1:1 redundancy, remote monitoring and summary alarm. The Up-converter translates an L-band input signal anywhere within the range of 950-2050 MHz to a C-, X- or Ku-Band output frequency depending on which module is installed. Conversely, the Down-converter translates a C-, X- or Ku-band input signal to an output frequency in the range of 950 to 2050 MHz.
