Telefonica bids $7.3 billion for control of Vivo

Shares of Portugal Telecom soar as much as 20% after the company receives an unsolicited $7.3 billion offer for its 50% stake in Brazil’s top mobile operator, Vivo, from its Spanish partner in the venture, Telefonica.
