Hong Kong leads Asia lower, Tokyo rises

Asian stocks end Thursday's session decidedly mixed. Japanese shares make a solid showing after an extended holiday, while Hong Kong stocks weaken, at least in part on a weak performance turned in by Metallurgical Corp. of China in its trading debut.
