Discover the Powerful Journey of Faith and Friendship in Idylls of the Collar by Mary Sheeran

Mary Sheeran’s latest novel, Idylls of the Collar, offers readers an emotionally charged exploration of friendship, faith, and personal growth. This compelling story follows Janene Shannon and Meg Madigan, whose paths cross in a seminary class.

Meg, an ex-Catholic nun, is on a courageous journey toward ordination in the Episcopal church. Janene, a writer driven by a desire to see the Old Testament through the lens of feminist spirituality, is auditing the class. Their initial connection blossoms into a deep friendship, and Janene finds herself increasingly involved in Meg’s world, even joining her church.

As Janene supports Meg through the often arduous ordination process, she begins to question her own spiritual calling. After Meg’s ordination, their friendship faces unforeseen challenges. Church politics and some of Meg’s actions shake Janene’s faith, leading her to grapple with feelings of bitterness and disillusionment.

Through Janene’s journey, readers will experience the profound struggles and triumphs of someone torn between friendship, faith, and self-discovery. Will Janene find it within herself to forgive and overcome the obstacles on her spiritual path?

Mary Sheeran’s Idylls of the Collar is a poignant and thought-provoking narrative that will resonate with anyone who has faced challenges in their spiritual journey and personal relationships. This novel is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of forgiveness.
