On November 25, 2015, the Executive Director of the California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”) granted the joint request submitted by Southern California Edison Company (“SCE”), a subsidiary of Edison International, along with Pacific Gas and Electric Company, San Diego Gas & Electric Company, and Southern California Gas Company (collectively, the “Joint Investor-Owned Utilities”) for a one-year extension of the due date for the Joint Investor-Owned Utilities to file their next cost of capital applications. As extended, the Joint Investor-Owned Utilities must file their next cost of capital applications by April 20, 2017 instead of April 20, 2016.
The Executive Director noted that, in order to effectuate the Joint Investor-Owned Utilities’ agreement that their cost of capital would not be adjusted for 2017, they would need to submit a petition to the CPUC requesting that it modify its existing decision establishing the automatic adjustment mechanism.
