Signet Group plc - Buyback of its own Shares

Signet Group plc ("Signet") announces that it has purchased the following number
of its ordinary shares of 0.05p each on the London Stock Exchange from Deutsche
Bank AG London Branch.

Date of purchase: 19 July 2006

Number of ordinary shares purchased: 750,000

Average price paid per share: 95.45p

Following the cancellation of these shares, the remaining number of Ordinary
Shares of Signet will be 1,739,601,451.
