Poster credit: Li Tang TeamThe innovative digital exhibition held by Li Tang Gallery allowed artists to showcase how tech impacts their craft.NEW YORK CITY, NY - On May 30th, 2022, Li Tang Gallery presented Fiction Beyond Nonfiction International Juried Exhibition. The exhibition received 334 artwork submissions from all over the world through an open call that closed in May. The exhibition explores through artistic expressions of the blurry limits where technology and human biology coexist, and even merge.
With the latest boom of NFTs and Metaverse's mass adoption, a new way of creating, collecting, and cherishing art has come. Li Tang Gallery seeks all kinds of possibilities for transforming this innovative experience into just another artistic outlet. For this particular exhibition, artists from different disciplines were invited to showcase their evolving visions of how the latest technological era impacts their practices and ways of expressing art.
Three highly renowned creatives in the industry were invited as the guest jury judges. The jurors are Jenny Guo, Nix Liu Xin, and Curry Sicong Tian. The overall high quality of the submissions made the jurying process a difficult one.
Jenny Guo is an Emmy award-winning creative producer, XR and NFT arts patron, and co-founder of LumiereVR and Highstreet. Nix Liu Xin is a mixed-reality director and designer. He works in various mediums such as filmmaking, motion visual arts, spatial design, XR experiences, and volumetric photography (3D scan). Curry Sicon Tiang is a Student Academy Award winner, filmmaker, digital artist, and international creative director.
"It is such an honor to be one of the juries in Li Tang's exhibition. Sharing this mindful journey with the artists feels like an unlimited beautiful experience," said Curry Sicong Tian. And then added, "And the main topic, the embodiment of the coexistence of the human and the deity aspects, where the boundaries between human beings and artificial intelligence are blurred, is extremely exciting."
Juror Nix Liu Xin's practice centers around the connections of digital and physical realities, merging architecture, form, movement, visual effects, color, and sound. When asked to express his opinion about the exhibition's theme, he stated, "Understanding the tools and techniques we use, respecting their logic and limitations, and seeking a novel application with humanities is the path I choose."
The virtual exhibition can be accessed through Li Tang's 3D gallery, in which the visitor can tour the virtual space and appreciate every single selected and carefully curated art piece.
