The FOLCS International Short Film Competition 2022 Awards Night to be Held on April 7 in New York City

FOLCS International Short Film Competition 2022 will conclude on April 7, 2022, with the FOLCS 9th Annual Awards Night. This closing night is a free event that will include the red carpet, and awards will be presented to the proud winners.

The FOLCS Awards Night will felicitate filmmakers who made legal, social justice, and human rights-themed shorts that were impactful. The closing night will allow the audience members to vote for their favorite short, which will win the Audience Favorite Award. The awards ceremony will be attended by eminent professionals from both the legal and entertainment fields.

The FOLCS International Short Film Competition is a powerful platform that encourages and showcases the best short films worldwide by emerging filmmakers. The finalist films are screened on the closing night. The FOLCS brings together renowned filmmakers, actors, writers, journalists, public intellectuals, and members of the legal profession. It also attracts diverse crowds of film lovers, making FOLCS the perfect stage to showcase one’s film.

“Today, more than ever, movies and documentaries, beyond being entertaining, can be enlightening; they can be a catalyst for conversation and a call for social change,” said Shervin Abachi, the Director of FOLCS International Short Film Competition.

The FOLCS awards have become popular for bringing together renowned filmmakers and actors, along with journalists, intellectuals, and legal experts. Together they get to share their views and opinions with an enthusiastic New York audience. Since its inception in 2005, FOLCS has successfully hosted an impressive array of artists, actors (Oscar-winner Sir Ben Kingsley, Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman, Emmy-winner Rosie Perez, The Social Network’s Jesse Eisenberg, Twilight’s Kristen Stewart), government leaders, and public intellectuals, including President Bill Clinton, and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

The finalist filmmakers participate in a post-screening discussion about their films. The 9th FOLCS Annual Awards Night is produced in partnership with the New York Film Academy. The closing will be held on April 7, 2022, and will be a free event. The tickets for the closing night are available now.
