Miller explains that company drivers for Strider earn a guaranteed salary of $70,000 for 30,000 miles per quarter — that's a guaranteed 59 cents per mile. After 30,000 miles, company drivers are paid an additional six cents per mile, as well as given fuel bonuses, insurance benefits and vacation. Owner operators average over $2 per mile to the truck, taking home 80% of what the load pays and still arrive home for their hours-of-service (HOS) reset.
