Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Rockstar Major, real name Makeever Mack, grew up with his grandmother, brothers, and mother. Like many young African American kids, he had to face severe family and life challenges while growing up.
As a young boy, he loved sports, but the violence at home and around him didn't help him make the best of his talent. While in high school, Rockstar lost two cousins to homicide, after which his mom also got incarcerated. At the same time, his father was doing five life sentences; then, he also went to jail for eight years.
Despite the challenging situations, Rockstar was able to encourage himself to achieve something meaningful with his life. Music is one thing that helped him pull through, which is why he will forever be grateful for it.
As a grown man, he's running his own media company, using his talent to make quality music to entertain his audience. Music offers the best outlet for him to express himself, and that's what motivates him to deliver amazing songs that will inspire others. He craves to see young people, especially African American boys and men, become an indispensable and integral part of society's social and economic system.
