Delbert Anderson Partners With DDAT Management To Launch The Blue Desert Virtual Tour

Music faculty member at San Juan College, Delbert Anderson, teams up with other well-meaning individuals to organize The Blue Desert Virtual Tour, a series of online events to highlight the healing and liberation components of jazz.

Delbert Anderson and the team at DDAT Management have struck a partnership to help indigenous communities leverage the healing and liberation components of jazz to eliminate or at least reduce the incidence of substance abuse, domestic violence, and suicide with the launch of The Blue Desert Virtual Tour. The virtual tour featuring talented jazz artists, including The Brad Goode Quintet, Ernie Watts, Julia Keefe Quartet, and D’DAT will hold on April 3, 10, and 17 and will be broadcast live across several streaming platforms.

“I want to highlight these healing components of jazz,” said Anderson. “Like liberation, mental health, improvisation, and how it can heal our indigenous communities,” Anderson continued.

Described as black liberation music, jazz has been around for centuries, evolving over the years, thanks to the contribution of several talented acts. However, many people are unaware of the amazing healing properties of the music genre, which is where Delbert Anderson is looking to make a difference with the Blue Desert Virtual Tour.

Delbert Anderson is using his talents as well as a $30,000 Presenter Consortium for Jazz Grant from Chamber Music America to highlight the rich culture in Northwest New Mexico and Southwest Colorado. The grant program provides support to 5 consortium applications of U.S. and Puerto Rico presenters that collectively engage up to three professional U.S. jazz ensembles to stream or live stream performances to each presenter’s audience.

The Blue Desert Virtual Tour is supported by Chamber Music America’s Presenter Consortium for Jazz Program, funded through the generosity of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

The virtual event will be live on Facebook and at Northwest New Mexico Arts Council, Farmington, New Mexico on April 3, 2021, Cortez Cultural Center, Cortez, Colorado on April 10, 2021, and gallupARTS, Gallup, New Mexico, on April 17, 2021.
