Boston Children’s Hospital today announced free registration is now open for the 2021 Eversource Virtual Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital taking place this year on Sunday, June 13. Similar to last year’s event, participants will be able to walk anytime, anywhere to raise funds for kids and families helped by the hospital that has cured more childhood diseases than any other. Thanks to the virtual format, walkers from all around the world can participate, bringing more accessibility to the event than what’s possible with an in-person event. This success was demonstrated with last year’s virtual event which helped raise more than USD $1 million. Organizers for this year’s virtual event are hoping to raise $1.3 million.
“Despite all of the changes and transitions we faced this past year, our fundraisers literally stepped up and out to support the expert care and research required to serve the many sick children who need access to our resources,” said Michael Bornhorst, associate vice president, Corporate Development, Leadership Giving & Special Events at Boston Children’s Hospital Trust. “This year’s virtual event will be even better as we’ve added some additional activities in response to feedback from 2020’s Walk and know our community and beyond will rise to the challenge to continue helping kids anywhere who seek answers and lifesaving care from Boston Children’s Hospital.”
For free registration to the event, go to http://bostonchildrens.org/walk. Participants are invited to walk on their own or as part of a team. Leading up to the Walk, teams will have access to a fundraising center with helpful tools and tips for a variety of ideas, whether it’s hosting a virtual fundraiser with friends and family or encouraging followers on social media to donate or join a team. On event day, walkers can participate at any time and from any location that’s convenient. This could include going for a walk around the neighborhood, tracking miles from the comfort of home on a treadmill, or enjoying the scenery on a hiking trail.
Donations raised through this event will go toward the hospital’s Every Child Fund, supporting groundbreaking research and critical care, and providing patient families much-needed services that are not covered by insurance.
