DESCRIPTION:MENDHAM, N.J., February 18, 2021 /3BL Media/ – YouGiveGoods, the e-commerce charitable giving platform, delivered record aid to nonprofits in 2020 when school and workplace closures due to COVID-19 created increased need in every community across the country.
At a time when nonprofits were tasked with supporting more people than ever before, COVID-19 created barriers to in-kind donations causing donation drives to come to an abrupt halt. YouGiveGoods virtual drive platform enabled people to donate needed items to local nonprofits from the comfort and safety of their homes. And they did so in record numbers.
In total, over 1,500,000 brand-new items were purchased for donation to NPOs via YouGiveGoods in 2020. The top three categories of items donated were food, followed by toys and then school supplies. Faced with similar product shortages and supply chain disruptions as supermarkets and online retailers, YouGiveGoods continued to deliver to nonprofits struggling to keep up with growing demand while following social distancing guidelines.
Over 1300 nonprofits received desperately needed food, toys, and supplies from a virtual drive hosted on the YouGiveGoods giving platform in 2020. Deliveries were made to organizations in all 50 states plus DC and Puerto Rico, to nonprofits large and small, in inner cities and in remote rural locations.
Corporations, organizations, and schools who saw their offices and halls become empty overnight as we moved to virtual work and school setups were able to rally their people together even though they were physically apart and support their neighbors in need utilizing YouGiveGoods. Sponsors such as TIAA, Anthem, Novartis, Fidelity, Vanguard, Northwell Health, PEMCO, and the NY Rangers plus countless schools, groups and many, many others made a huge impact in their local communities through their virtual giving events.
A partnership with the iconic Marine Toys for Tots program was forged in summer 2020 as fears that donations would be low due to fewer donation bins and less store traffic. In the end, YouGiveGoods was able to make a significant impact by hosting over 550 virtual toy drives benefiting Toys for Tots alone. In total YouGiveGoods hosted 1,012 holiday toy drives with toys donated to kids in need across the country. In addition to toys, generous donors also purchased books, warm coats, socks, diapers, food and more during the busy 2020 holiday season.
