Investors Representing $420 Billion in Assets Sign on to Letter Asking Biden Administration to Advance Policy Recommendations for a Just and Sustainable Economy

Letter urges the administration to move forward the policy proposals that will help the nation "build back better"

WASHINGTON, DC, February 10, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- US SIF: The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment shared their policy recommendations with President Biden in a letter signed by 87 business organizations and investors representing over $420 billion in assets under management. The letter urges the administration to move forward the policy proposals that will help the nation "build back better" and provide a framework through which the private sector can contribute alongside government leadership.

Recognizing that addressing the coronavirus pandemic, racial injustice, economic inequality and climate change are priorities for the Biden administration, the letter shares six overarching recommendations:

1) Create a White House Office of Sustainable Finance and Business to accelerate the growth of a sustainable private sector
2) Appoint leadership at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Department of Labor (DOL) with knowledge of sustainable investment
3) Advance corporate transparency on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues and protect shareholder rights
4) Enhance retirement security by allowing sustainable investment options
5) Assert global leadership and take action on climate change
6) Address economic inequality

Lisa Woll, CEO of US SIF, said, "The dramatic growth in sustainable investment and the widespread interest in shifting companies from a shareholder to stakeholder-focused approach creates an opportunity for the government to catalyze these trends further and to set new rules of the road.

"Sustainable investors have been among the early voices urging companies to take action on climate change and engage with companies to improve policies on issues ranging from human rights and diversity to sustainable agriculture.

"We look forward to working with the Biden administration to achieve a more just and sustainable economy and to engaging the private sector in achieving this goal."
