Vladimir Kush Presents His New Original Painting 'New African Mask'

LAS VEGAS - May 6, 2020 - (Newswire.com)

Kush Fine Art Galleries and the world-recognized artist Vladimir Kush present his new original painting “New African Mask” oil on canvas (21”x26”). The artist and creator of “Metaphorical Realism” unveils and describes his new masterpiece to the world.

Pandemic is the fear of extinction that has overtaken a large part of humanity. In the painting, it is represented in the form of an elephant appearing against the peaceful savanna background wearing a gas mask. He is clearly unhappy with the role of a miserable "martyr" and sufferer and that "crown" of a mask is not the best image of him being protected from the pandemic.

Any minute now, in a furious gesture, he is going to kick the apparatus down to the ground – see the right knee bending in readiness. This young and strong creature rebels against the inability to smell and feel his home turf, the tropical forest. The self-isolation policy imposed by "higher powers" has effectively deprived him of normal peer group interaction.

Self-isolation or absence of "the fellowship of equals" rendered society helpless in the face of the spreading pandemic and turned the elephant into easy prey. We see a tiny bird in the painting that is not afraid to keep the rebel company. She is the young elephant’s newsagent, "telling" him the latest. And it is a reliable source of information as it comes straight from the real-time news network Twitter.

All over the world, people are wearing masks as the new normal, defining the new standards for social interaction. Social distancing and self-isolation have quickly become a way of living for many. In the artist’s campaign “Symbols of our Times” (@kushfineart), we understand through metaphor how many of our current daily routines have now become monotonous in our interaction with the world and society. Embracing a modality through which we are now refrained from socializing and showing human emotions by a mask, not being able to reveal a smile or any face gestures in our daily interactions with others. Are we as society defining the new normal for humankind? The pandemic and lockdown will eventually end and every creature will regain its place on earth as we slowly go back to breathing fresh air and showing human emotions among ourselves.

Kush explains: “The difference between ‘traditional Surrealism’ and my style, ‘Metaphorical Realism,' is significant. My style implies the possibility of truthful depiction of the material world and combines with it my own vision of cultural world traditions and mythology.” Kush is one of the very few artists in the world to own and showcase his artwork in his own art galleries. “Kush Fine Art” is a one-of-a-kind art gallery in the industry of fine art, featuring the unique collection of original paintings, prints, drawings, jewelry, books and bronze and silver sculptures.
