WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. - April 2, 2020 - (Newswire.com)

Diné Development Corporation (DDC) delivered a $500,000 donation to the Navajo Nation to provide support for Navajo people amidst the COVID-19 crisis. On Friday, March 27, 2020, the DDC Board of Directors approved a donation resolution in response to the pandemic’s severe impact on the Navajo Nation.

To ensure that funds meet immediate needs, the approved donation resolution highlights two key designations: 1) “donation exclusively for expenditures relating to the Navajo Nation COVID-19 crisis,” and 2) “donation deposited into a ‘Special Revenue Fund’ [as defined pursuant to 12 N.N.C. §810(R)(1)(b)] to be designated for expenditures relating to the Navajo Nation COVID-19 crisis.” The donation represents a sum that is in addition to regular dividends provided to the Navajo Nation in accordance with DDC Articles of Incorporation.

“Our hope is that we inspire shareholder confidence that we are taking every measure to minimize the pandemic’s impacts across the Navajo Nation,” shared DDC CEO, Austin Tsosie. “As we work together to overcome this crisis, we will collectively become stronger. Ahéhee’ (thank you) to our leaders, medical teams, first responders and all those that remain dedicated to their practices for the benefit of our Diné Nation.”

Upon delivery of the donation, Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice-President Myron Lizer thanked DDC executives and DDC personnel for their dedication to helping the Navajo people.  “We all have to continue to work together to overcome this pandemic and this donation will assist tremendously,” stated President Jonathan Nez.
