Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Broker Veyo to Continue Operations and Offer Additional Services During Pandemic

The NEMT broker operating in six states is working with various stakeholders to implement programs that will ease strain while adhering to social distancing guidelines

WINDSOR, Conn. - March 31, 2020 - (Newswire.com)

Veyo’s highest priority is the health and safety of both members and transportation provider partners. Transportation to essential health services such as dialysis or chemotherapy is a critical component in the health care continuum, and Veyo is doing everything possible to ensure access to care is not affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

What Veyo is Doing:

Supporting the Shelter in Place Mandates

The majority of Veyo’s team members have successfully transitioned to a work-from-home plan, in accordance with several state requests for citizens to shelter in place. All operations, including driver onboarding, call centers and market support are now being effectively managed virtually.

Prioritizing Essential Medical Transportation

Veyo has been working with partner health plans to craft and communicate guidance to members which includes information on when a member should stay home, when they should seek alternative forms of medical support such as telemedicine, and when they should avoid using transportation. The company’s full COVID-19 policy can be found here.

Protecting our Valued Transportation Providers

Veyo has provided guidance to transportation providers regarding vehicle and personal cleanliness in line with information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Guidance includes information on handwashing, ways to clean and sanitize vehicles, recommendations on staying healthy, and guidelines on what to do if a driver feels ill. Veyo is also working with manufacturers to source Personal Protective Equipment for transportation providers in an effort to protect the drivers who are on the front line as they transport members.

Non-Medical Transportation

Veyo is working with a variety of potential third-party partners to provide non-medical transportation (e.g. grocery shopping or prescription pickup) for their populations. All drivers in Veyo’s network undergo full background checks and are trained in First Aid, CPR, ADA, and are experienced in helping passengers with disabilities of all kinds (physical, intellectual, and behavioral health). Veyo’s network can support all mobility needs, including fully ambulatory (with or without assistance), and those that need specialized modes such as wheelchair accessibility. Bariatric, stretcher, and ambulance services are also available in some markets.

Introducing Food, Prescription, and Medical Supply Delivery

In collaboration with state governments and agencies, Veyo will work to determine additional opportunities to provide services to members. For members who are unable to leave their homes during this time, Veyo can utilize existing resources for food bank/grocery delivery, prescription delivery, and medical/household equipment and supply delivery, and other logistics services that might be requested.

Transportation for Medical Personnel

For medical personnel who may need assistance with transportation to and from patients or a health care facility, Veyo is available to coordinate and provide that service. The goal is to ensure as many barriers can be removed as possible.

If a government agency or stakeholder is interested in partnering with Veyo to address any transportation or logistics needs mentioned above, please visit https://veyo.com/our-commitment-veyo-community.
