Stock Update (NYSE:V): Visa, MasterCard $7.25 billion settlement with retailers is voided

[Reuters] – A federal appeals court on Thursday threw out a $7.25 billion antitrust settlement that Visa Inc (V.N) and MasterCard Inc (MA.N) had reached with millions of retailers that accused the card networks of improperly fixing credit and debit card fees. Visa spokeswoman Connie Kim said the Foster City, California-based company is reviewing the decision. MasterCard spokesman Seth Eisen said the company, based in Purchase, New York, is disappointed in the ruling and will review its next steps. Read more on this. Visa Inc. (V) , with a current market cap of $176.89B, opened at $76.99. Looking at today’s market, V one day range is $73.80 to $77.14 with a one year range of $60.00 to $81.73. V shares are currently priced at 27.60x this year’s forecasted earnings, which makes them relatively expensive compared to the industry’s 23.10x earnings multiple for the same period. And for income investors, the company pays shareholders $0.56 per share annually in dividends, yielding 0.75%. According to a consensus of 32 analysts, the earnings estimate of $0.67 per share would be $0.07 worse than the year-ago quarter and a $0.02 sequential decrease. What we find to be interesting is that the full-year EPS estimate of $2.78 is a $0.16 better when compared to the previous year’s annual results. The quarterly earnings estimate is based on a consensus revenue forecast of the current quarter of $3.67 Billion. If realized, that would be a 4.26% increase over the year-ago quarter.
