Shower Head Manufacturers Missing-in-Action When it Comes to Shower Control

By: PRLog
Ultra-low heads and shower wall-timers are it; in 20 years. The Shower Manager, not preoccupied with profit incentives of a large line of shower heads, provides shower control as its exclusive product. It is now on Fall Special through October 31st.
PRLog - Oct. 9, 2013 - DENVER -- In recognition of the Shower Manager's  5th Anniversary of Online Sales, the company is offering $20 Off on all residential model units thru 10/31/13.  With this $20 discount, the price is $109, down from an MSRP of $139. Units are available at the company Web Store at the web address below.

The Shower Manager is a unique shower control device. What sets it apart from low-flow heads and shower-wall timers is that it actually cuts-the-flow, after a pre established time. This cutting of the flow will bring a shower to an end, not just provide reminders.

A parent or head-of-household can establish one of three shower times of 5, 8 or 11 minutes. An audible tone alerts the bather 60 seconds before the change in flow. When the selected time expires, the flow is cut by 2/3 – leaving just enough flow to finish rinsing.

As the bather turns-off the shower, the unit remains in low-flow mode for 5 minutes to prevent extending the shower.

The unit was developed by Don Brunkhardt of Denver, CO, in response to the lingering shower times of this two daughters.  In recent years two patents have been granted on its functionality, and, today, the unit is manufactured at the Peak Engineering and Automation facility in Loveland, CO USA.

Today’s model, Shower Manager 4.0, incorporates laboratory refinements and customer feedback. As Mr Brunkhardt states, you learn a great deal in five years. Being new technology, customer use and feedback has been of critical importance to the growth of our product.

Industry Missing-in-Action

Initial efforts to market the product through shower head manufacturers never materialized. While it was seen as useful device, it also ‘flies in the face of our multiple shower-head lines,' remarked a product evaluator. With that and a walk down a hardware aisle, shower heads dominate. Shower control has been limited to 20-year old technology of low-flow heads and wall timers, hence, an industry Missing-in-Action.

The company reports that demand for the unit has grown from family / residential use to applications in lodges, B&B’s, medical offices, and half-way houses. The unit is used in Zoo’s (for the trainers) and even Hospital ships. The need for shower control crosses borders and cultures, as orders from Australia, Canada, Great Britain, and elsewhere are received monthly, if not weekly.

At the request of several support groups, the company is making units with longer times for people of disabilities.

In early 2014, the unit will be available in select retail outlets, with the goal of placement in big box retailers prior to 2015. Included with this retail placement will be a unique easy open Clam-Shell package.  It will give retailers the package security they demand, but also provide a much easier means to extract the product than current clam-shells provide.
