Garmin® to Open New Technical Support Center in Salem, Oregon

Garmin AT Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, announced today that it would create a new technical support center at its Garmin AT facility located in Salem, Oregon. Designed to house up to 200 associates, the center will augment Garmin’s existing technical support centers.

“This new facility will greatly expand our ability to interact with our customers who need to resolve technical issues or have questions about our products,” said Gloria Sukraw, Garmin AT’s General Manager. “Not only will more associates be available to address support issues, but because we’re located in the Pacific Time Zone, our technical support line will stay open two hours longer.”

Once construction is completed in late January, Garmin will lease and occupy a 43,000-square-foot facility located less than three miles from its current Oregon facility at the Salem Municipal Airport. Garmin is hopeful it can open a temporary facility this fall, ahead of the busy holiday season.

Garmin is seeking qualified applicants with technical expertise who want to work in a fun, fast-paced environment. Interested applicants can visit www.garmin.com/careers for more information. Garmin representatives will also host an informational career forum at Garmin AT, 2345 Turner Rd. SE in Salem on September 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Any interested candidates should bring their resumes to the forum.

The company’s close cooperation with state, regional, and city leaders have facilitated business growth and contributed to the expansion of the Salem facility. Tax incentives and workforce training grants were provided to help make this expansion possible.

"Our sincere thanks to Garmin for their exciting decision to locate their new technical support center here in Salem,” said Salem Mayor Janet Taylor. “This is an extension of the great relationship we have had with Garmin as we worked with them over the last few years on expanding their manufacturing plant, and we are here to provide any assistance they may require."

“The Strategic Economic Development Association, SEDCOR, is very pleased with the announcement made by Garmin AT for their new Technical Support Center in Salem,” said Ray Burstedt, SEDCOR’s president. “Garmin AT has been a very strong corporate citizen in Salem for many years and this new opportunity will provide a significant expansion for their operations here. SEDCOR and the entire community of resources have supported Garmin AT with past expansions and we look forward to continuing that support for this new operation as well as future opportunities.”

Currently, Garmin AT employs approximately 230 people and operates on a 150,000-square-foot campus that focuses on the design, manufacturing and support of communication and navigation products for general aviation customers. The new technical support center will primarily assist customers who have questions about Garmin’s automotive/mobile, outdoor/fitness, or marine products.
