Beckley, WV – My Hope for Tomorrow, a local substance use disorder treatment center, opened a new facility in Beckley, West Virginia in December. Their first facility is located in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Vaughn Bell, Baymark Health Services VP of business development, told WOAY-TV: “We really have a hard time keeping up with the volume of patients who need services at Point Pleasant. So we’re ecstatic to be able to open a second location and there’s just not an adequate amount of services in this part of the country.”
My Hope for Tomorrow’s Beckley facility focuses on residential treatment, with 20 beds available. The regular stay for patients is 28 days, with up to 60 days as an option. Residential treatment is a good option for those in need of intensive, consistent treatment for substance use disorders. Currently, one of the most important methods of treatment in their residential program is medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD). These medications are FDA approved, and help those with opioid use disorder tolerate the symptoms that come with trying to stay opioid-free. My Hope for Tomorrow aims to expand the Beckley facility’s programs as time goes on.
When speaking about where Vaughn Bell expects the Beckley facility’s patients to come from, she shared, “Some of them come from other professionals, they may come through the ER, they may come from their doctor, they may come from a family member, they may come from a probation officer, or they may just be self-referred. In Beckley, because it’s a larger city with more medical services here and closer hospitals in the area, we do expect to see an increased amount of folks from medical facilities like the ER or from the VA.”
The staff at My Hope for Tomorrow pride themselves on creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who walks through their doors. They’re passionate about helping everyone in need, from pregnant women to veterans and individuals with other health conditions, and anyone in between. Bell also expressed the importance of treating those with mental health conditions in the residential program: “Folks who have maybe a more complicated scenario in terms of their ability to stay sober, we do treat folks for what we call co-occurring disorders. So they might have a severe depression or anxiety diagnosis, along with their addiction. Those folks may have a harder time just going straight into outpatient and doing it on their own. Those folks do really well when they come in and spend some intensive time with us in residential and then we transition them into outpatient.”
My Hope for Tomorrow also provides continuing care for those leaving the residential program. They’re dedicated to supporting anyone who attends their programs for as long as they need it, offering access to continued therapy and any information they require. The recommended therapy usually consists of an outpatient program at the Point Pleasant facility.
My Hope for Tomorrow’s outpatient programs consist of much of the same therapy as residential programs, without around-the-clock care. Instead, patients can customize their treatment schedule to suit their responsibilities as they transition back into their normal life. The amount of time spent in outpatient varies depending on the patient’s unique treatment plan, but they’re always able to return home at the end of the day.
