About the Author:

The author, Neal Smith, was a law enforcement officer in the Deep South for almost 40 years. He worked 29 years with the city of Macon, Georgia, three as a firefighter the twenty-six as a Police Officer. After he retired from Macon PD in 2004, he was hired and worked in The Bibb County Jail for six months before being hired by the U.S. Marshal Service doing court security and VIP protection.

During his career with Macon PD, Neal Smith served as a patrol officer, a traffic officer, and a member of an armed robbery stakeout squad. In 1992, he was promoted to Sgt., where he was a patrol supervisor. After being involved in a deadly force incident in 1998, he was a detective in the Crimes Against Property unit. Smith also was a SWAT team member in the late 80's and early 90's.
