Economics of energy creating a stampede for solar power with 603 Solar

By: Get News
As electricity rates continue to rise, many homeowners are turning to solar power to save money on their energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint.

EXETER, N.H. - Property owners are installing solar panels on their rooftops at a record rate, thanks to the high cost of electricity, federal tax incentives, and state laws that allow solar panel owners to sell their surplus energy back into the grid.

Supply chain issues are easing, solar panels are available, and now is the time to book an installation for this year, given soaring consumer demand, according to Zach Haithcock, cofounder of 603 Solar, headquartered in Exeter.

“Last year saw an explosion in the solar industry, as electricity rates went through the roof,” says Hathcock, “and we expect to be even busier in 2023. If people wait until the spring or summer to start the process, they are not going to get installed until the end of the year, or possibly 2024.”

The rates New Hampshire consumers pay for electricity were already among the highest in the country when electric utilities announced a doubling of residential rates in late 2022. “If your electric bill is more than $100 and you own a home or property that gets a lot of sun, our solar advisors can show you how much you can save with a solar system,” said Haithcock. “We start with a no-cost evaluation that will let homeowners know their return on investment. It’s a free service because we know that knowledge is power for our clients.”

Utility customers with solar electricity save money when they don’t need utility power on sunny days. In fact, on some sunny days, their solar panels generate so much electricity that the homeowner is able to “sell” energy back into the grid, which is reflected as a dollar credit on their bill. Solar panel owners also are eligible for a 30 percent tax credit on federal income taxes owed, which is an increase from the 22 percent tax credit available last year.

603 Solar uses a transparent process that starts with presenting all the information needed to make an informed decision. The company then coordinates permitting, interconnection approval with the utility, installation, and final inspection.

Once the system is activated, 603 Solar monitors all systems remotely and responds to problems as soon as possible. “The process is simple, and the first step is reaching out to us for your evaluation,” said Haithcock.
