Employee Experience Super-App Blink Grows by 159% as Organizations Strive to Cultivate Employee Engagement and Retention

Blink, one of the fastest-growing employee experience platforms, today announced record US growth of 159% for its fiscal year 2023, concluding in February 2024. Founded by Sean Nolan and launched in 2019, Blink is a mobile-first employee app designed specifically for frontline organizations to close the digital divide gap, enhancing productivity, improving communication and reducing turnover.

Nolan's strategic relocation from London to Boston 18 months ago provided the foundation for Blink's growth trajectory. In addition, key appointments in 2023, such as Jim McInerny joining as chief revenue officer and Jeff St Laurent being added to the Board, have strengthened the company’s leadership team. Blink’s surge reflects the growing demand for platforms prioritizing employee satisfaction and retention rates. The company has significant adoption across key sectors including healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, logistics, and hospitality which has fueled its expansion.

According to the Workday Frontline Workforce Study, approximately 82% of all workers in the U.S. and 2.7 billion global workers are part of the frontline workforce. However, despite comprising a significant portion of the global workforce, these workers often lack the communication tools they need to share feedback and stay updated on work-related information.

New Customers

During 2023, Blink welcomed 52 new customers, including Berry Global, KeHE, The Learning Experience, OnTrac, Saint. Luke’s Hospital, and prominent regional players in Emergency Medical Services such as Armstrong Ambulance, Mohawk Ambulance, Patriot Ambulance, and Northwest Ambulance. These customers chose Blink to empower their frontline and reconnect their entire workforce. They join esteemed customers like Domino’s, and RATPDev in transforming their frontline operations.

“2023 was all about ramping up our presence in the U.S. and rolling out new products,” said Sean Nolan, founder and CEO of Blink. “The surge in demand for our offerings has been driven by a fundamental shift in how leading enterprises approach workforce communication and connection with frontline employees. With rising wage inflation and widespread labor shortages, companies are waking up to the importance of optimizing the work-life experience to boost productivity and cultivate employee satisfaction and retention. Blink addresses this need by bridging the technology gap between deskless and desk-based employees, enhancing communication, and collaboration, and making them feel more valued and connected to their organizations. We're excited to keep the momentum going in 2024.”

Partnership Ecosystem

Blink’s suite of third-party integrations empowers employees to seamlessly access all existing tools directly through the app interface. In 2023, Blink further expanded its integration suite with the introduction of Blink Connector for ADP Workforce Now and Workday, complementing its existing integrations with Dropbox, GitHub, Google, Jira, Microsoft, Salesforce, and more. Beyond technical integrations, Blink also invested in partnerships with leading global and regional consultancies with expertise in workforce strategy and operations like Spencer Thomas Group.

Awards and Recognitions

In 2023, Gartner recognized Blink as a leading software provider in its annual Market Guide for Employee Communications Application where SuperApps are shaping this market’s future. In addition, Blink was featured in three 2023 Gartner Hype Cycle notes as a leading vendor in Frontline Worker Employee Experience Technology (EXtech): Hype Cycle for HR Technology, Hype Cycle for Workforce Transformation, and Hype Cycle for Retail Technologies.
