Marquis Who’s Who Honors Susan Tesseneer-Pope for Expertise in Education and Art

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / January 28, 2025 / Ms. Tesseneer-Pope is the recipient of the Albert Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been selected to be featured in the Women of Influence series, which is part of Who's Who of Professional Women. Ms. Tesseneer-Pope is an artist, author and gallery owner.

About Ms. Tesseneer-Pope

Ms. Tesseneer-Pope has overcome many obstacles in her life, much of which she has shared in her new memoir, "My Life In Your Hands." Within its pages, she covers various tribulations, including the traumas of child and marital abuse, attempted suicide and two divorces over eight decades. Drawing inspiration from her past, Ms. Tesseneer-Pope has transformed her experiences into a driving force for success in her chosen fields.

Ms. Tesseneer-Pope attributes her love of art to her mother, who had the soul of an artist but was hindered by a depth perception issue. While pregnant with Ms. Tesseneer-Pope, her mother prayed that one day her baby would be able to paint all the "pretty places" she loved to visit.

At the age of five, Ms. Tesseneer-Pope was enrolled in art lessons by her mother where she was not only taught about the craft but also learned the importance of always having a mentor and not struggling too long on her own. This lesson would prove valuable in her later life.

As a young woman, Ms. Tesseneer-Pope had success as a dress shop owner for over a decade but had to sell her business due to health problems. In the following years, she was a representative for portrait artist Cleta Curtis, wrote a beauty column and was a judge for Miss America of Missouri.

A Career in Photography and a Passion for Motivating Others

Ms. Tesseneer-Pope's life took a turn when she met a photographer in the waiting room of a doctor's office. She told him of her desire to be a photographer and shared some of her work. Impressed, he gave her his card and encouraged her to build a network in Tennessee with other photographers. He urged her to venture into professional photography because she had the heart for it. Ms. Tesseneer-Pope took his advice and introduced herself to Jay Stock, a top photographer at the time, who happened to be having breakfast at the same location as her. After that interaction, she studied with Mr. Stock and started a new career path as a professional photographer.

Ms. Tesseneer-Pope has always applied her life lessons, especially regarding not worrying about failure. After she divorced at 60, she decided to become a writer and enrolled in a class at Harvard. She resolved to write about her life in the hope that it would encourage others. She enjoys helping others, especially encouraging young girls to become professional photographers.

"From this exciting and tumultuous life I have experienced, I am left with no regrets. The valuable lessons are golden. Never worry about failure, at best, if we are open, not only will it teach us what to avoid later but wisdom for future decisions. As long as I can remember during this rocky life climb, it has left me with no regrets and no worse for the wear. The lessons are priceless," Ms. Tesseneer-Pope says.
