GOL ANNOUNCES DISCONTINUATION OF REGULAR FLIGHTS TO SANTIAGO (CHILE)
São Paulo, June 14, 2012 – GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes S.A. (BM&FBovespa: GOLL4 and NYSE: GOL), (S&P: B+, Fitch: B+, Moody`s: B3), the largest low-cost, low-fare airline in Latin America, announces that as of October 3 it will discontinue its regular flights to Santiago (Chile). The Company based this decision on financial criteria, among which is the low profitability of these flights due to the high costs involved in the operation.
As a result of an adverse macroeconomic scenario, in the beginning of March 2012 GOL and Webjet announced a capacity rationalization, in line with the goal of reducing domestic supply by 2% in relation to 2011. GOL and Webjet are determined to work towards helping discipline and rationalize a market that had been experiencing unsustainable growth, which could damage the industry’s health as a whole in the medium term.
GOL wishes to point out that it is taking the necessary measures either to accommodate onto other flights or reimburse customers who have bought tickets for dates following the suspension of flights.
