Creation of a Direct Financial Obligation or an Obligation under an Off-Balance Sheet Arrangement of a Registrant.

On February 15, 2011, Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, Inc. (“AERT”) and H.I.G. AERT, LLC (“H.I.G.”), an affiliate of H.I.G. Capital, LLC, executed an extension of the maturity date of H.I.G.’s $2.0 million loan to AERT until March 15, 2011. The original maturity date of the loan was February 15, 2011.
